Consolidated Medical Travel is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Beds & Unit Composition

• Total beds: 54
• Ortho/Spine unit: 11 dedicated, high-volume beds

Patient Ratios

• RNs: 1:5–6
• PCTs: 1:12–15
• RN/LPN Team: Responsible for 10 total patients
• Each hall typically staffed with:
  • 2–3 RNs
  • 1 LPN (based on census/staffing)
  • 1–2 PCTs

Staffing Model

• Unit secretaries available weekdays until 8 p.m.
• Support from Techs and Externs
• RN/LPN team-based care model

Equipment Utilized

• Alaris infusion pumps
• Remote telemetry
• Continuous pulse oximetry
• Specialty beds
• Transfer/patient mobility equipment
• Wound VAC systems
• Chest tubes
• NG and feeding tubes
• Other standard med-surg equipment

Documentation System

• Meditech

Scheduling Requirements

• Minimum of one weekend per 4-week schedule (may be split)
• Block scheduling considered case-by-case

Floating Policy

• Floating occurs at the unit’s discretion

Patient Experience / RN Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience

Patient Population

• General medical-surgical patients
• Orthopedic and spine patients (on designated floor)
• Trauma patients
• Psychiatric medical-hold patients
• Other mixed-acuity med-surg cases

• Certifications:
  • BLS (required)
  • ACLS (optional)
• Licensure:
  • Active, unrestricted RN license
