Job Description

Supplier Quality Engineer 

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring the quality of purchased materials by enforcing supplier quality standards, strengthening incoming inspection controls, and driving continuous improvement with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and manage supplier quality complaints and corrective action

  • Maintain and update supplier quality documentation and certification records
  • Negotiate sorting, return, and containment actions with suppliers

  • Oversee incoming inspection compliance and inspection controls

  • Manage product containment for in-process and finished goods related to supplier issues

  • Conduct supplier audits (onsite and remote) and manage supplier scorecards
  • Support supplier product release, run-at-rate, and certification activities
  • Approve supplier PPAPs and 4M change requests

  • Implement 5S and monitor area risk assessments, KPIs, and process controls

  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and customer requirements
  • Monitor supplier quality using SPC methods

  • Train and support incoming inspection personnel

Authority & Scope

  • Authority to stop production or product release due to non-conformance
  • Scope includes supplier quality assurance, incoming inspection, and APQP/PPAP activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field

  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience; automotive quality experience preferred
  • At least 1 year of supplier quality assurance experience

  • Strong knowledge of AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC)
  • Experience interpreting IATF 16949 standards and conducting internal audits
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (GD&T)

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • IMDS experience is a plus

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • ERP system experience preferred
