Peer Support Specialist Full‑time, Entry Level position in the Peer Support Center, Monroe, LA. Salary range $33,000.00–$35,000.00. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Identify lifelong recovery goals for participants enrolled in the Peer Support Program. Provide assistance in treatment planning and facilitate life‑skills coaching as per individual plans. Research, access, and link participants to appropriate medical, psychiatric, educational, community resources, and other social services based on assessments and preferences. Facilitate recovery group sessions and conduct individual sessions. Regularly meet with the supervisor for staff meetings and follow the supervisor’s instructions. Attend required training and participate actively in staff meetings, case reviews, and training sessions as assigned. Provide needed assistance and fill in for other Peer Support Specialists when required. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Lived experience with a behavioral health diagnosis, specifically a primary mental illness diagnosis (not substance abuse disorder). At least 12 months of demonstrated recovery per SAMHSA’s definition of recovery. Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Age 18 years or older. Certified Peer Recovery Specialist or completion of an approved Certified Peer Specialist and/or Family Support Training within 30 days of hire. Minimum of 10 Continuing Education Units per year to maintain certification. Capability to make timely referrals to medical, psychiatric, educational, and community resources. Accurate documentation of services, records, and progress toward participant goals. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to build rapport with participants and referral sources, and to encourage participants to be active partners in recovery. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Communicate with others by phone and in person. Operate a computer and retrieve written documents. Walk, sit, use hands, and lift or move lightweight items.
