Facilitate munication access for high school students through expert ASL interpretation in virtual learning environments. We're seeking experienced Educational Interpreters who understand the unique challenges of secondary education and are mitted to ensuring deaf and hard-of-hearing students have equal access to plex academic content. This remote position offers professional growth in virtual interpreting.

Secondary Education Focus This remote interpreting position specializes in providing ASL interpretation services for high school students in virtual educational settings. You'll work with students across challenging academic subjects including advanced placement courses, STEM classes, and career preparation programs, ensuring equal access to plex educational content.

Interpretation Responsibilities

• Provide simultaneous interpretation for high school level academic content and discussions
• Interpret for virtual classes including advanced placement and dual enrollment courses
• Facilitate munication during online labs, group projects, and interactive activities
• Collaborate with high school teachers to optimize visual presentation of plex material
• Adapt interpreting techniques for technical vocabulary and specialized subject areas
• Support students during virtual college and career preparation activities
• Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality standards
• Participate in virtual graduation ceremonies and school events

Service Delivery Structure

• 35-40 hours per week of interpretation services
• Support 12-20 high school students across grades 9-12
• Flexible scheduling to acmodate varied high school class schedules
• Mix of individual and classroom interpretation for core and elective subjects
• Support for college preparation courses and career readiness programs
• Participation in virtual IEP meetings and transition planning

Required Qualifications

• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher
• Minimum 2 years of school-based interpreting experience, preferably secondary level
• Strong fluency in American Sign Language and English
• Understanding of deaf culture and secondary education interpreting practices
• Excellent academic vocabulary and subject-specific knowledge
• Professional ethics and mitment to student confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

• EIPA score of 4.0 or higher with written ponent
• Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification
• Bachelor's degree in interpreting or related field
• Experience with virtual interpreting platforms and technology
• Specialized knowledge in STEM or advanced academic subjects

Technology and Setup Requirements

• High-definition webcam with professional lighting for clear visual munication
• Stable internet connection with sufficient bandwidth for video conferencing
• Professional appearance and appropriate signing space
• Quiet environment free from visual and auditory distractions
• Backup internet connection for service reliability
